Link to GNU Social "source and support" requires login
There is link to "source and support" in the banner, visible e.g. via the GNU Social home page, which links to https://git.gnu.io/. But that redirects to Sign in · GitLab. (If you are already logged in to that site, you'll have to log out and try again to see clearly how that appears to non-logged-in-users.)
That is of course very confusing. I was thinking "Do I really have to register an account and log in to get the software??" Especially since most of the links on that page are about GitLab.
It took me a while to realize that I didn't actually need to login, since the link to "Explore" would take me to the Projects · Explore · GitLab index page, where the page I wanted, gnu.io / gnu-social · GitLab, happened to be "trending" and was thus easy to notice.
Instead, the "source and support" button should link straight to gnu.io / gnu-social · GitLab
I also note that none of those pages clarify anything about the AGPL (Affero GNU Public License). The only mention I see of the license on the web site is at What is GNU social, which just mentions it, without a link.
So I think that page, or the "About" page What is GNU social?, or some page that is generated by GNU social itself, should provide the actual License (rather than linking to a repository that does) and explain a bit about the implications. That's all especially important as a model for anyone who forks the code and puts up their own version, since the whole point of the AGPL is that those people provide their modified code to their users, and hopefully the wider community.
Some helpful clarifications about all this are at What are the attribution requirements of the AGPL license?.
